FaceMend Privacy Policy

How FaceMend handles your data on iPhone and Android.

In short

FaceMend has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your photos, edits and settings stay on your device. We do not receive any of it.

Data we collect

None. FaceMend does not collect personal data and does not send anything to us. There is no sign-up, no advertising, no analytics or crash reporting service, and no tracking across other apps or websites.

What stays on your device

The app saves a few things on your device so it can remember them:

  • your projects: a copy of each photo you open and your edits to it
  • your settings
  • whether you have FaceMend Pro

This data never leaves your device through the app. Deleting the app removes all of it.

Photos, microphone and speech

On iPhone, FaceMend opens photos through the system photo picker, so it sees only the photos you choose, and asks only to add photos to your library when you save an edit. If you say your edit request out loud, FaceMend asks for microphone and speech recognition access; what you say is turned into text on your iPhone and is never uploaded. FaceMend removes location data from the photos it exports.

Backups

On iPhone, the app's data, including your projects, can be part of your own iCloud or computer backup if you have backups turned on. Those backups belong to your Apple account and we cannot see them.

Purchases

On iPhone, FaceMend Pro is a subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase handled by Apple (App Store). We never see your payment details. The app checks your purchase on your device with Apple's own tools. Apple's privacy policy covers the data it processes. On Android, purchases go through Google Play (see below).

Internet use

FaceMend edits your photos on your device. The app goes online only through services of your device's store or system:

  • on iPhone, buying or restoring FaceMend Pro, and the App Store rating prompt (Apple)
  • on iPhone, the first time you use the Eraser, Apple delivers a file it needs from the App Store to your device. No photo and no personal data is sent with it
  • links you tap, which open in your web browser

No photo, and nothing about your photos, is sent to us or to anyone else.

FaceMend on Android (Google Play)

Everything above about how FaceMend treats your photos applies to the Android app too. The differences are only in which platform services it uses:

  • On-device processing: every edit runs on your phone. No photo, and no data taken from a photo, is sent to us, to Google or to anyone else for processing.
  • Choosing photos and videos: you pick them with the Android system photo picker, which shares only the items you select. FaceMend cannot browse your gallery.
  • Saving: edited photos and videos are saved to your device gallery. On Android 10 and later this needs no permission. Location (GPS) data is removed from what the app exports.
  • Downloaded models: the optional Eraser model (about 200 MB) and the depth model used by Relight are not part of the app download. The first time you use one of those features, Google Play delivers the model to your device. It is a one-way download to your phone: no photo and no personal data is sent with it.
  • Purchases and subscriptions: subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled entirely by Google Play (Google Play Billing). Google processes your payment and manages your subscription, and we never receive your payment details. Your purchase is checked on your device. Google's handling of your purchase is covered by Google's privacy policy. You can manage or cancel a subscription in the Google Play app under Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  • Rating prompt: the app may show Google Play's in-app review prompt. Any rating or review you leave goes to Google Play, not to us.
  • No account, no analytics, no ads: the Android app has no FaceMend account, no analytics, no advertising SDK or advertising ID, and no crash reporting service. Its Google Play data safety section says no data is collected or shared.

Permissions on Android

  • Storage (write), Android 9 and older only: to save your edited photos to the gallery. Newer Android versions save without it.
  • Detect screen capture, Android 14 and later: the app is told when you take a screenshot of it, so it can show a short tip about saving the full quality photo. The screenshot itself is never read, recorded or sent anywhere.

You can review and change permissions at any time in Android Settings, then Apps, FaceMend, Permissions.

Children

FaceMend does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.

Your choices

Since we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to export or delete. You can delete projects in the app, turn off photo, microphone or speech recognition access in your device settings, or delete the app to remove everything it stored.
